THE PILOT

Since he was just a kid, Ross has always had a real passion for flying. Five decades and 25,000 hours after his first solo flight in the RAAF, Ross has had a wide variety of flying from low-level tactical flying in Caribou aircraft to RAAF VIP transport followed by 30 years of international airline flying based initially out of Hong Kong’s famous Kai Tak Airport.

Now retired from commercial flying Ross has time for his other love – flying warbirds. For 25 years he has been involved with the warbird community around the country and now sits on the Board of the Australian Warbird Association Ltd and is President of the Caboolture Warplane & Flight Heritage Museum.

As Chief Pilot of Warplanes Pty Ltd based at Caboolture Airfield on the Sunshine Coast Ross operates a fleet of two iconic ex-military warplanes. He delights in sharing these wonderful vintage aircraft with aviation enthusiasts and passengers who are keen to experience the thrills of flying in aircraft from a bygone era.

After all these years in the skies, Ross likes nothing more than getting airborne and seeing the world from a bird’s eye view enjoying “the best job in the world”.
